The 43rd Hong Kong International Open Tenpin Bowling Championships was hosted from 9 to 13 July. The Macao bowling team sent 9 members in total to compete. They included Lei Tak Man, Choi Kit Fan, Lam Sou Keng, Choi Hou In, Sou Weng Si, Leong Chou Kin, Ho Man Lok, Chio Hou Leong and Wong Son Ian. Among them, Wong Son Ian, who had performed excellently in the Thailand Open and the Hong Kong Asian Schools Championships, performed her best once again and was crowned the champion in two categories: U15 and U18.
In the finals of the U15 category, Wong Son Ian performed well in all the six rounds. Among these rounds she scored 244 in the third one, and 180 or above in each of the last three rounds. She finally won against male contestants from Kuwait and Hong Kong with the score 1217, and was crowned the champion.
In addition, in the finals of the U18 category, Wong Son Ian, who competed against contestants from a higher level, continued her pursuit for victory. She scored 1173 in total in all the six rounds, and won the champion by defeating players from Malaysia with the narrow margin of 1 point. As a contestant in the youth group, she became the champion in two categories. The former team member Wong Wang Ip scored 1225 in the finals of the senior category, becoming the second runner-up.
