The 2020 Galaxy Entertainment Macao International Marathon, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, will be held on 6 December. The marathon and half-marathon will start at 6am while the mini-marathon will start at 6:15am at the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. The Organizing Committee would like to remind all participants to prepare for the upcoming race, to arrive early at the competition venue early on race day and to follow the arrangements made by the Organizing Committee.
Because of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Organizing Committee has made COVID test arrangements for the participants in coordination with the Health Bureau to ensure a safe environment for the races. Participants who have either taken test using the aforesaid method or made their own COVID test arrangement must show a proof of negative result issued by a medical institution in Macao or in China when entering the venue on race day.
To facilitate participants upon arrival at the venue, the Organizing Committee has set up “COVID test results checkpoints around the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. The checkpoints will be open from 4:15am. All participants must wear their bib before arriving at the checkpoints, and show their Macao Health Code and negative COVID-19 nucleic acid result to the staff. The authorized participants will then be given a wristband which they should put on before storing their personal belongings at the storage area of the Indoor Pavilion of Olympic Sport Centre from 4:30am to 5:45am. They must then undergo temperature check and enter the starting area through the entrance close to Wa Bao Garden (Marathon and Half Marathon) or through the entrance of Hockey Field (Mini Marathon). All Marathon and Half Marathon participants must arrive at the starting area before 5:50am and all Mini Marathon participants must arrive at the starting area before 6:10am. The Organizing Committee urges all participants to arrive early at the Olympic Sport Centre Stadium so that they could complete all the admission procedures as soon as possible and get ready at the starting area.
The Organizing Committee would like remind all individuals including participants, spectators and staff that they must follow the anti-pandemic measures and guidelines at the venue, comply with Law No. 2/2004 of the Macao SAR – “Law on the Prevention, Control and Treatment of Infectious Diseases”, and pay attention to and cooperate with the Macau SAR Government’s anti-pandemic measures and quarantine requirements upon arrival.
