WTT Macao 2020, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and World Table Tennis (WTT), co-organized by Macau Table Tennis General Association, and presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, will be held at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion from 25 to 29 November. The sport’s biggest stars will gather in Macao to showcase their elite skills to spectators and fans.
Galaxy Entertainment Group as the presenting partner
During a press conference today, the organizers released details of the event and ticketing information, and announced Galaxy Entertainment Group as its presenting partner. The presenting partner agreement was signed by the Sports Bureau and Galaxy Entertainment Group, and a cheque presentation ceremony was also held. Guest attending the conference included: Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau; Mr. Stephen Duckitt, Event Strategy Director of WTT; Mr. Francis Lui, Deputy Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group; Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of Galaxy Entertainment Group; Mr. João Ma Chi Tat, Chairman of the Macau Table Tennis General Association; and Mr. Allen Lau Cho Un and Ms. Christine Lam Lin Kio, Vice Presidents of the Sports Bureau.
Table tennis’ biggest stars gather in Macao
WTT Macao 2020 is the first event to be held by WTT since its inception by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) this year. Men's and women's singles will be held, featuring many of the world’s top 16 players including: Fan Zhendong, Xu Xin, Ma Long, Lin Gaoyuau, Liu Shiwen, and Wang Manyu, Wang Chuqin and Wang Yidi from China; Lin Yun-Ju from Chinese Taipei; Jeoung Youngsik and Jeon Jihee from Korea; Feng Tianwei from Singapore; Díaz Adriana from Puerto Rico; Szocs Bernadette from Romania; Ahmed Saleh from Egypt. Innovative formats with new scoring methods will be adopted in different stages, including the unprecedented best-of-nine format in the final, bringing a fast-paced and thoroughly exciting competition for spectators.
The players and officials who are coming to Macao for the event have been in China since October and have already undergone a 14-day quarantine. They then take part in the Dishang 2020 ITTF Men’s and Women’s World Cup in Weihai, Shangdong and the 2020 ITTF Finals in Zhengzhou, Wunan between 8 and 22 November. The aforementioned players and officials will have had stayed in Mainland China for over 14 days before entering Macao, and they must show a valid negative nucleic acid test result before being granted permission to enter Macao. During the competition period, they must also comply with the anti-pandemic guidelines and regulations by the Macao health authorities.

According to the match schedule, the knockout tournament and competitions between top 4 seed players will be staged on the first two days (25 and 26 Nov), the quarterfinals and semifinals will be held on 27 and 28 Nov respectively, and the final will take place on 29 Nov. Tickets will be on sale from 11:00 am on 12 Nov until 24 Nov, at 10 designated OK convenience stores in Macao (Nam Ngai Kok Building in Areia Preta; Sun Star Plaza in Border Gate; China Civil Plaza; Iat Teng Hou Business Center in Nam Van; Ponte 16; Riviera Gardens; Van Sion Son Chun; Estrada do Cemitério; Prince Flower City; Kings Ville) or at the official ticketing website www.sport.gov.mo/WTTmacao2020/ticketing. Alternatively, from 25 and 29 Nov, tickets can be bought on-site at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion. Tickets are valid only on the designated date with free-seating. Macao residents, students and seniors aged 65 years or above are entitled to discounts to purchase at in-store and on-site ticketing counters. Ticket prices are as follows:
