“East Asia Super League – The Terrific 12,” co-organized by Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Asia League Limited (Asia league), has concluded its second day at Tap Seac Multi-sport Pavilion. After three days of competition, on September 21, four teams—the Korean Basketball League (KBL)’s Seoul SK Knights, Philippine Basketball Association (PBA)’s San Miguel Beermen, and Chinese Basketball Association (CBA)’s Zhejiang Guangsha Lions and Liaoning Flying Leopards will enter the semifinals.
At 3pm, the first game of the day unfolded between the Niigata Albirex Basketball and TNT KaTropa. The teams jostled for the lead, with the point differential hanging at around one to two points in the fourth quarter. In the end, TNT KaTropa capitalized on their opponents’ errors to score, gaining a 99-90 victory, finally settling spirited match in the final minute. TNT KaTropa’s foreign import player KJ McDaniels was a force of nature, gaining 47 points and 17 rebounds, becoming the driving force in his team’s victory. Roger Pogoy also put up 27 points, five rebounds, and five steals, while Almond Vosotros scored 12 points. After a devastating 38-point loss to the Shenzhen Aviators on Day Two, Ryukyu was fighting for honor. The match ended in a 102-92 Beermen victory, pushing them to the top of their pool with two consecutive victories as they enter the semifinals. The Beermen kept the upper hand throughout. New foreign import player Dezmine Wells was San Miguel’s secret weapon, racking up 42 points, six rebounds, and hitting four three-pointers. Golden boy Terrence Romeo sank a cool 18 points and four assists, excelling in the first half. Lester Prosper also had 15 points and eight rebounds. On the Ryukyu Golden Kings, foreign import player Demon Brooks stood out with a solid 34 points and 11 rebounds, while Ryuichi Kishimoto scored 12 points.
In the final game, CBA titans the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions tested their strength against B.LEAGUE’s Utsunomiya Brex. After being behind for most of the game, Zhejiang turned it around in the fourth quarter to pull out a 94-90 win. Zhejiang foreign import player Jalen Reynolds was the piston behind Zhejiang’s victory, forming the crucial power behind their late game recovery. He scored 28 points and 14 rebounds, while other foreign import player Aaron Jackson performed well, claiming 14 points and 11 assists. Hu Jinqiu continued his high level of play from Zhejiang’s first game, storming through with 20 points and eight rebounds in less than 20 minutes on the court. Sun Minghui used the fourth quarter to show his mettle, taking 13 points. On Utsunomiya, foreign import player Jeff Gibbs had 18 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, while Ryan Rossiter had 18 points and six assists; Makoto Hiejima 9 points; and Shuhei Kitagawa ten points. After this game, Zhejiang will move into the semifinals with a spotless record, facing off against the Seoul SK Knights.
