Macao's annual international motorsports event, the 66th Macau Grand Prix, will be held from November 14th to 17th 2019. The Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee (MGPOC) today (May 22nd) held a press conference at the Macao Science Center to announce that Suncity Group is the title sponsor of the event and to release the provisional race line-up.
Guests attending the press conference included: President of the Sports Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government and Coordinator of the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee, Mr. Pun Weng Kun; Ms. Gina Lei, Senior Vice President of Corporate and Community Relations of the title sponsor, Suncity Group; Automobile General Association of Macao-China Chairman Mr. Lo Keng Choi; Automobile General Association China-Macau President and Coordinator of the Sporting Subcommittee of MGPOC Mr. Chong Coc Veng; and Vice Presidents of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and Deputy Coordinators of MGPOC Mr. Allen Lau Cho Un and Ms. Christine Lam Lin Kio.
At the press conference, Mr. Pun and Ms. Lei signed a sponsorship agreement and officiated a cheque presentation ceremony. Suncity Group becomes the event’s title sponsor for the sixth consecutive year, and this year's Grand Prix will be officially named the Suncity Group 66th Macau Grand Prix.
Mr. Chong, Coordinator of the MGPOC Sporting Subcommittee introduced preparations for the event. The 66th Macau Grand Prix will continue to incorporate six races, including three world-class events: the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, the Macau GT Cup and the Macau Guia Race. In addition to the above events, the four headline races include the Macau Grand Prix Motorcycle - 53rd Edition. Together with the Macau Touring Car Cup and the Greater Bay Area GT Cup, the races will create an exciting and diverse programme of events.
For the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix-FIA F3 World Cup, Mr. Chong announced the intention to introduce the FIA Formula 3 Championship™ car to the Guia Circuit. Mr. Chong noted that, while details regarding implementation were still under discussion, the new car is more powerful than its predecessor. However, the single-chassis, single-engine 380hp car incorporates the latest FIA safety features, including a halo and anti-intrusion panels. It is expected that the majority of the grid for Macao will be made up of FIA Formula 3 Championship™ drivers.
Tickets for the 66th Macau Grand Prix will go on sale from June 3rd. This year, prices for the practice days will remain unchanged at MOP50. Prices for the event days are slightly increased and range from MOP400 to MOP1,000. Prices vary depending on the spectator stand, and each person may purchase up to 20 tickets at a time. In addition, anyone who holds a valid student ID card in Macao may purchase tickets for the event at Reservoir Stand at a price of MOP150. Each student is limited to one daily discounted ticket, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition, the MGPOC also enables the local business community to support the Macau Grand Prix through a variety of means including: guest boxes, entry passes, sales booths and circuit advertising.
