The two Semi-Finals of Asia League’s Summer Super 8 tournament today at the Macao East Asian Games Dome saw Guangzhou Long-Lions and Seoul Samsung Thunders advance to the Finals game, while ETLand Elephants and NLEX Road Warriors will compete in the third-place play-off.

Semi-Final 1 – ETLand Elephants 74-84 Seoul Samsung Thunders
The first semi-final game tipped-off at 5 P.M. between two South Korean teams – ETLand Elephants and Samsung Thunders. With both teams clearly familiar with each other’s playing style, it was unsurprising that the scoreline was always close during first half. ETland led only by 2 and 3 points at 19-17 and 40-37 in the first and second quarter respectively. Samsung then found another gear, producing a 16-4 run and took 13 points lead at 66-53 at the end of the third quarter. In the final quarter, ETLand struggled to fight back and Samsung Thunders won 84-74. Samsung Thunders will play in the Championship game tomorrow at 7pm. ETLand Elephants will play in the third-place play-off tomorrow at 5pm.
Semi-Final 2 – Guangzhou Long-Lions 75-63 NLEX Road Warriors
At 7 pm, the second semi-final was held between Guangzhou Long-Lions and NLEX Road Warriors. Guangzhou got off to a 17-5 run in the first 5 minutes and took 13 points lead at 26-13 at the end of the first quarter. Then both sides battled end to end for the lead with Guangzhou coming out on top at 46-34 at the end of the first half. The Filipino team fought back hard and closed in to as little as 2 points behind in the third quarter. Under the leadership of Shirelijiang, Guangzhou then strengthened their defense and pull away again in the last quarter. Guangzhou Long-Lions defeated NLEX Road Warriors 75-63, securing their spot in the Championship game.
