The FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) – Macao 2018, organized by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China, and presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), will be held from 22 to 24 May (Tuesday to Thursday) at the Macao Forum. The four participating teams - China, Poland, Serbia and Thailand – underwent training today at the competition venue as they are gearing up for the upcoming matches.
Members of the China, Poland and Thailand team also attended a promotional event at the Senado Square in the city centre today and were warmly greeted by the enthusiastic citizens and volleyball fans. In addition, players of China (captain Liu Xiaotong with teammates Hu Mingyuan and Yang Hanyu) and Thailand (captain Pleumjit Thinkaow with teammates Ajcharaporn Kongyot and Chatchu-on Moksri) signed autographs on volleyballs which were then presented to the Organizing Committee and the presenting sponsor GEG.
Honorable guests present at the promotional event included President of the Sports Bureau Pun Weng Kun; President of the Volleyball Association of Macao, China Chan Mun Fong; Consultant of GEG Buddy Lam; China head coach Lang Ping and coach Yuan Lingxi; Thailand head coach Danai Sriwacharamaytakul and Poland team manager Krsysztof Zajac.
The Macao pool starts on 22 May with Serbia playing against Thailand and China against Poland; 23 May features Poland versus Serbia and China versus Thailand; and on the final day 24 May, Poland first plays against Thailand and then China and Serbia will conclude the week’s action.
Tickets are in high demand and selling out quickly especially for the final day. The remaining tickets are available for purchase at 15 designated Circle K convenience stores in Macao and also on the official website www.macaovnl.com. Each ticket is priced at MOP150 per day and is valid for two matches with free seating.
In order to further enhance audience engagement during the competition, “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player and Team” competition will be hosted to offer spectators the chance to vote for their favorite player and team and to be in with an opportunity to win hotel accommodation as well as food and beverage prizes.
