The Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China, held the 2018 general assembly and gala dinner on the 4th floor of the Macao Tower on March 15. President Ma Iao Hang stated that since the exchanges of the Sports and Olympic Committee became increasingly frequent, they further the extent to which Macao's sports affairs became internationalized.
Ma Iao Hang stated that in 2018, the Sports and Olympic Committee organized delegations to participate in the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia. Martial arts athletes Wong Chon Wa won the second gold medal since the Macao delegation had participated in the Asian Games, which was inspiring. The delegation won a total number of 1 gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes in the Asian Games, including the silvers gained by the martial arts athlete Li Yi and Karate athlete Sou Soi Lam and the bronzes won by the Karate athlete Wong Sok I and Triathlon athlete Hoi Long. Meanwhile, Macao delegation's persistence shown in the field deserved to be complimented and encouraged.
Lou Keng Chio, President of the Council, thought that Macao athletes made breakthrough, illustrated the essence of the Olympic, and achieved brilliant results in the field. He expected that with the collaborative efforts of the SAR government, Sports Bureau, Sports Associations, coaches and athletes, Macao sports will be better developed in the next Asian Games.
