“2018 Macao Squash Open”, hosted by Macao Squash Association, took place from 27 March to 1 April. The final match was conducted at the glass-covered squash court built in Tap Seac Square. The sixth seed player in the men's event, Yip Tsz Fung, having defeated the first seed Golan in the competition among the best eight players, had lagged behind two matches in the final, turned adversity into victory with a 3:2 win against Omar Mosaad, who was the 2013 champion. This is Yip's first title as champion at the Macao Squash Open. In the women's final, Egyptian player Nouran Gohar defeated her teammate Salma Hany with the final score of 3:1, defending the championship successfully.
Yip Tsz Fung, a Hong Kong player who has competed in the Macao Open for many years, made a breakthrough in his career eventually. Though he lost in the qualifier for the first time, he remained persistent. This is the first time that he has been promoted to be among the best four players and then to the final. In the competition this year, he lost 9:11 to Omar Mossad in the first match and 6:11 in the second. However, Yip Tsz Fung started his counterattack since the third match. Having won the next matches 11:4 and 11:5, he tied with his opponent with equal wins. In the decisive match, he continued his counterattack and grabbed four match points. Eventually, he won 11:7 and turned adversity into victory with a 3:2 in winning rounds. It is the first time that he has been crowned champion in Macao Open.
In the women's final, Egyptian contestants Nouran Gohar and Salma Hany were competing. Nouran Gohar won 11:8 in the first match, and won again in the second match with 11:8 again. Salma Hany then won with 11:9 in the third match. In the fourth match, Nouran Gohar came from behind Salma Hany to defeat her opponent with a score 11:7, successfully defending the women's title with a match score of 3:1.
