The 16th SportAccord Convention 2018 was held from April 15 to 20 in Bangkok, Thailand by SportAccord. Macao Sports Bureau dispatched its personnel to participate in this event.SportAccord Convention invited many leaders of international sport federation and local government sports executives to participate in the Convention and Open Ceremony, included the President of SportAccord Convention Patrick Baumann, the President of International Olympic Committee Mr. Thomas Bach, President of Association of National Olympic Committees Mr. Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand Mr. Weerasak Kowsurat, Governor of Sports Authority of Thailand Mr. Sakon Wannapong, the Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee Yu Zaiqing, the Deputy Director of the State General Administration of Sports Gao Zhidan, the Director of Wushu Administrative Center Zhang Qiuping.
Representatives of 831 sports organizations coming from 84 countries participated in this convention and exhibition. The participants came from institutions of various countries or regions such as governmental sports departments, tourism departments, International Sports Federations, National Olympic Committees, sports affairs companies, sports equipment suppliers, sports organizations, and sports media organizations among others.
The organizers and the International Olympic Committee held conferences, city forums, and activities in relation to local cultures in numerous sessions. The personnel of the Sports Bureau engaged in extensive communication, exchange, and interaction with the attendees and all the participating institutions.
By participating in SportAccord, the Sports Bureau promoted the development of sports-related affairs in Macao to the attendees all over the world and publicizes Macao's important sport events. They also promoted the comprehensive development of “Sport-for-all” with a clear focus to the public so that Macao can have greater progress in the development of sports-based tourism and event-based tourism, contributing to the moderate diversification of Macao's economy.
