To celebrate the 18th anniversary of the establishment of Macao SAR as well as the 8th year of the establishment of the Federation of Macau China Sports General Associations, the Sports Bureau and the Federation held the 2017 Macao Sports Carnival at Tap Seac Square on 22 October. The event attracted around 28,000 participants who celebrated it in a lively atmosphere.
In this event, Ma Iao Hang, President of the Sports Federation, stated that the Sports Carnival had entered its 8th year. The stall games had various themes which provided the public with the chances to experience different kinds of sports. It was expected that through the event, residents would be encouraged to engage more in physical exercises, and to cultivate the habits of exercising regularly. The activities of the Macao Sports Carnival this year were rich and diverse, including 62 stall games set up by 76 general sports associations and sports clubs, as well as the exhibitions of the information about sports, sports demonstrations, activity photos display, and lucky draw.
In the opening ceremony, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Party Secretary of State General Administration of Sports, Zhu Guoping, President of the Trim & Fitness International Sport for All Association, Ju-Ho Chang, Assistant Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, Shao Bin, President of the Sports Bureau, Pun Weng Kun, President of the Federation of Sports Associations, Ma Iao Hang, and Director of the Federation of Sports Associations, Chan Weng Kit.
Macau Boxing Association, Macau IPSC Association, and Macau Ice Sports Federation were awarded the champion, runner-up and second runner-up respectively for the best stalls. In addition, the hosts also presented the prizes of four competitions about the Sports Carnival namely essay-writing, coloring, painting and poster design for the event.
