In celebration of the 18^th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR), the “15^th Guangdong – Macao Football Cup”, was co-organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province, the Macao Football Association and the Guangdong Football Association. After two matches, the Guangdong team beat Macao by the overall 3:2 and won the champion, turning defeat into victory.

　　The first match was held on 21 October at the Stadium of the Olympic Sports Centre in Macao. The Macao team, as the home team, scored at the 52^nd and 82^nd minute by Fernández and Almeida, and was leading by 2:0. However, during the added time, Cai Yaohui from the visiting team shot the goal and made it 2:1. The second match took place at the Guangdong Provincial People's Stadium in Guangzhou on 2 November. Although Macao joined it as the visiting team with the advantages gained in the first match, they failed to win against the Guangdong team who competed as the home team. Eventually Macao lost by 0:2, and the Guangdong team won by 3:2 summed up in the two matches, turning defeat into victory and won the Guangdong - Macao Cup.
