Italian Alessio Piccini Wins Macao Cup

The "2017 Macau International Kart Grand Prix", hosted by the China-Macau Automobile General Association and co-organized by the Sports Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office, lasted 4 days consecutively.  In the finale of the “Macao Cup” event, which took place on 10th December at the Coloane Karting Track, Italian car-racer Alessio Piccini won over two car-racers from Hong Kong, China and was crowned the champion. Cheong Chi Hou, a car-racer from Macao, ranked the fourth.

In this year's Macao Cup, 26 car-racers competed in the 25-circle event. The car-racer from China, Ma Qinghua, who was in the first position at the beginning had no choice but to withdraw from the event because his car showed problems in the warm-up round. Alessio, the Italian car-racer, who was not threatened by any opponents kept leading all along and finally won as the champion. The two car-racers from Hong Kong, China, Chan Kwok Cheng and Chan Cheok Hin won the first and the second runner-up respectively.

For the results of the other finals, in the Mini-Rok event, in which only the young car-racers competed, Nikita Bedrin from Russia surpassed Tasanapol Intraphuvasak from Thailand in the last circle and won as the champion, while Christian Ho from Singapore took the third place. In the junior open group of the 125 Formula, Eduardo Coseteng, a car-racer from the Philippines, won as the champion while Oscar Ng Kok Tung from Malaysia was the first runner-up. The second runner-up was awarded to another car-racer from the Philippines, Bianca Bustamante. In the senior open group of the 125 Formula, the champion was awarded to the Hong Kong car-racer Royce Yu Chuen Yiu.

The guests attending the handshaking and awarding ceremony included the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, the President of the China-Macau Automobile General Association Lo Keng Siu, the President of the Sports Bureau Pun Weng Kun, the member of the International Compact Racing Committee Jaakko Markula, the Director of the China-Macau Automobile General Association Chong Kuok Weng, the President of the Asian Kart Open Championships Cesar Ayuyao, Manager Rosela Feria, Deputy Director of the China-Macau Automobile General Association Herculano Ribeiro, and a number of sports committee members.
