Macao Martial Arts Youth Academy, organized jointly by the Sports Bureau and Wushu General Association of Macau, was established ten years ago. On 25 June, the event “Macao Wushu Youth Academy Fun Day” was held at the Final Shooting Range of the Macao International Shooting Range, Cotai. It attracted about 600 participants. Through the Fun Day, the organizers hoped to allow parents to have better understanding of students' learning progress, and deepen the general public's understanding of the training and operation of the Martial Arts Youth Academy.
Over the decade, the Martial Arts Youth Academy has been continuously pushing forward the development of martial arts exercises and nurturing talents in martial arts. It attaches importance to the all-rounded development of young athletes, promoting the idea of being adept with both sports and cultural studies, and the excellence in both conduct and studies. This year, a total number of 48 members were awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Three Areas (training, competition and cultural studies). Among them, 5 members have even been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Three Areas for five consecutive years. Upon the tenth year of the establishment of the Martial Arts Youth Academy, the Wushu General Association set up two new awards namely the “Decennary Leap Progress Award for Coaches” and the “Decennary Leap Progress Award for Students”. The awarded coaches included Chu Fan Fat, Lou Kuok Cheong, Leong Hong Man, and Wong In Wai. Leong Chi Kin, who has been receiving training with great effort since the establishment of the Academy, was awarded the “Decennary Leap Progress Award for Students”.
