In the 2016 Summer Paralympics held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 to 17 September, Chen Yu Chia from Macao, China achieved his personal best in the Men's 200m Freestyle – S14 and Men's 200m Individual Medley – SM14. After the match, the team leader Cheong Kuai Hong and coach Siu Yu Ning expressed satisfaction with the results, and that they would fully utilize scientific and systematic training methods to improve the technical level of the athletes in the future. They expect to continue to achieve good results in future international competitions to win honor for the Macao Special Administrative Region.
On 11 September (time in Brazil), Chen Yu Chia played in trial match of the Men's 200m Freestyle – S14 as his first event in the Rio Paralympic Games. The swimmers were divided into three groups and Chen Yu Chia was assigned to line 7 in the second group. He finished the match with a record of 2:12.11, ranking 17th. Although he failed to get to the final, he achieved his personal best score by more than one second.
On 17 September (time in Brazil), Chen Yu Chia demonstrated good psychological quality and intense determination in the Men's 200m Individual Medley – SM14, especially in the last 50m and reached the finishing point as the sixth in the group. His record of this match, 2:32.26, was another personal best. In the end, he ranked 19th with total score, ending his final match in the Rio Paralympic Games.
More than 4,300 athletes from 159 countries and regions have competed for medals in 22 categories and 528 events in this year's Paralympic Games. The Chinese delegation has won a total of 239 medals of which 107 are gold, 81 silver and 51 bronze, ranking first on the gold medal list and the medal list.
